Michael F. Hock, Ph.D., is the Director of KUCRL, Senior Research Scientist, and Courtesy Associate Professor in KU’s Department of Special Education. Mike has successfully directed numerous research and development efforts with adolescents and adults in literacy-based programs and has experience in the design and validation of several SIM instructional strategies aimed at improving outcomes for struggling students. Mike was a high school teacher of students with LD for 12 years during which time he implemented multiple KUCRL SIM strategies. He has published multiple articles and chapters on literacy in journals such as the Journal of Learning Disabilities, Learning Disabilities Quarterly, Journal of Psychology Education, Journal of Staff Development, International Journal of Research in Learning Disabilities, Journal of Educational Psychology, and Journal of Research in Reading.
