Learn More About Content Enhancement Routines (CER) Application Requirements

1. SIM CER Implementation Experience

Applicants eligible to apply to become a SIM Professional Developer in Content Enhancement meet each of the following requirements.

  • Participated actively in professional development for a minimum of 3 CE Routines (preferably from 3 of the 5 strands, Planning and Leading, Higher Order Reasoning, Concepts, Explaining, and Increasing Performance) - Visit the CER webpage for more information
  • Implemented a minimum of 3 CE Routines (if one of these is not a planning routine, then pre-work will be required prior to attendance)
  • Implemented the CE Routines throughout the year to demonstrate proficiency and/or competence as verified by a certified SIM Professional Developer

Download this table (.docx) indicating the instruction you have received and the experience you have had using the Content Enhancement Routines with students. Note those that you are currently using in your classroom and if you are not currently in a classroom teaching position, note how you are using or have used the routines. Upload this your completed table to your CER PD Institute badge.

2. Compile a Portfolio including:

Evidence of 3 different CERs of your choice constructed and used with students in a classroom.

  • CER #1: _________________________Be sure to include your draft AND samples from two different students.
  • CER #2: _________________________Be sure to include your draft AND samples from two different students.
  • CER #3: _________________________Be sure to include your draft AND samples from two different students.

Evidence explaining implementation, such as a course syllabus, journal, or letter, that together with the devices show course-wide implementation of CE Routines and development of a strategic classroom.

3. Submit Classroom Video - one classroom video recording and checklist of yourself conducting the Cue-Do-Review Instructional steps. Click on this link to learn video specifications.

4. Letters of Support, one from a current employer or administrator and one from a certified SIM Professional Developer. Click on this link to learn letter specifications.

5. Application questions. The answers to the application questions help institute instructors prepare to personalize the institute content, tasks, activities, and sessions for participants. Thus, don’t worry if you feel your answers to some questions are brief or limited. We will support your professional growth through the institute and apprenticeship process towards certification.
