SIM Virtual Professional Learning: Canvas Course

The Framing Routine

The Frame, a graphic organizer, helps students study essential information and focus on relationships between main ideas and details as well as among several main ideas.  Teachers and students use the Framing Routine in conjunction with the Frame to develop a thorough understanding of information associated with key topics and main ideas.

This is a self-paced and self-guided course housed in the Canvas Learning Management System.  We estimate that it will take approximately 3 hours to complete.

This time estimate includes time to:

  • watch the brief videos,
  • draft a Frame teaching device aligned to your curriculum, and a
  • modest time estimate for reading the accompanying materials.

Among many individual factors, the length of time will vary due to reading and working speed, or if you implement the routine with students and then come back to the modules to draft additional Frames. Another factor for time variance is whether this is your first SIM Content Enhancement Routine.

This course includes access to a virtual SIM Professional Developer on Zoom. These online coaching sessions include additional time of approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your requested level of support.
