SIMposium Session: Writing With Purpose: A New Content Enhancement Routine to Bring Student Motivation and Evidence-Based Writing Practices Together

Session Description:

Students become more skilled writers when they write for a meaningful purpose (Block & Strachan, 2019). However, adolescents often complete assignments with little use outside classroom walls. Writing With Purpose is a new and not-yet-released instructional routine designed to connect students with a reason for writing, then support them throughout a collaborative writing process. Participants will learn the components of the routine as they currently exist, and have the opportunity to inform its development.
